🖉My Thoughts:

This is as dark as you'll find an Emily Henry book. That being said, it's more like slightly overcast. Our FMC January is struggling, not just with the passing of her father but with finding out that he wasn't the perfect husband and father that she thought that he was. On top of all of that, she's trying to reconcile who she thought her father really was with who he actually was with her mother but she refuses to discuss it. Also, her publisher demands a book per her contract. Annnnnnd her father left her his summer house which she decides she ought to prep to sell because, you know, money. That's a thing that writers need and stuff. January's neighbor just so happens to be a pretentious writer that she went to college with so obviously they decide to challenge each other to write a book outside of their genre. This is another great summer read from Emily. While it's a little bit of a different vibe than her other books, it's refreshing that it's a bit different.
