My Thoughts:
I read some goodreads reviews before I started this novella and I truly don't understand the hate. Ali Hazelwood has me in a complete chokehold. We've got another STEM romance in the enemies to lovers/forced proximity trope. This book starts out with a love scene which is a little odd to me. I mean, aren't we kind of reading in anticipation of that? I guess we know it'll eventually happen anyways. While I did find that a little odd, it fit with the way the story read. I thought that this book was super cute and the characters are well-developed in proportion to the length of the book. This book had significantly less STEM academia than previous novels by this author and I actually enjoyed that. The main focus of this story is their relationship and there isn't much for bunny trails. I liked the storyline leading up to their first physical encounter, it was so awkward that I was vocally reacting to it. The ending is fantastic as well!
The story begins with our MC Mara on her way to a house which she inherited from her mentor, later to learn that she only own's half and her mentor's nephew owns the other half. You see where this is going right? They're forced to live together, hate each other, then mildly dislike each other, then become friends and BAM! You know the rest. If that's your jam, read this book.
