One Sweet Holiday by Lucy Day

Jasmine Falls Love Stories #3

My Rating: 4/5 Stars

Primary Genre: Holiday Romance/Romcom

Blurb: Opposites attract in this sweet holiday rom com—but will this small-town sweetheart and a sexy stranger be a perfect match or a recipe for disaster? It’s the most wonderful time of the year…unless you’re me. Hold the hayrides, keep your cocoa, and don’t put me within a country mile of mistletoe. This year, Christmas means chaos. My sister’s getting married and I—Gwen Griffin, perfectionist extraordinaire—will make sure her wedding is flawless. That includes doing the finding myself a wedding date. But in my tiny hometown of Jasmine Falls, South Carolina, I’ll have better luck winning the lottery. I may be awesome at running my cafe, but I’m terrible at men. And after my last epic breakup, everyone in town knows it. That’s why I need a plus-one—even a fake one—so that when my sister gets married, everyone’s attention is on her, where it belongs. The guy next door is perfect for the job. Gorgeous and charming, Logan Fyfe is only here for a few weeks. He’s also a hot Scottish bazillionaire who’s totally out of my league—so my risk of falling into a relationship with him? Less than zero. Pretending to date Logan is the perfect plan—until it isn’t. Beneath his devilish smirk and delicious brogue is a big-hearted man who makes me feel the one thing I never believed to be true—that I’m enough, just the way I am. With the wedding approaching, there’s nothing fake about my feelings anymore. When he slips his arm around my waist and whispers into my ear? Yeah, I’m a goner. We may be worlds apart, but I’m done pretending. It’s time to get real…even if it means risking my heart.

Author’s Note: If you like sweet, closed-door romantic comedies with plenty of sizzling chemistry and hilarious banter, then welcome to Jasmine Falls!

My Thoughts:

This is my first Lucy Day book so obviously I haven't read any of the other books in the series. I received a copy of this from NetGalley in exchange for honest feedback. Our main character Gwen lives in Jasmine Falls, SC which is a small town. She's just recently dumped her fiance because he was cheating on her but now her sister Victoria is getting married over the holiday season and Gwen is trying to get her head in order to get through this wedding and the holiday season with her cafe. It doesn't help that her mother won't stop meddling in her life and trying to play matchmaker for her. Victoria and her future husband end up renting her house out, which is right next door to Gwen, to a wedding guest flying in from Scotland. Wouldn't you know, he just so happens to be very handsome and Gwen keeps running into him. After no luck finding a date to the wedding and desperate to get her mom off her back so that she can focus on her business, Gwen's sister Victoria asks Logan the Scot from next door if he'll be Gwen's fake date for all things wedding and holiday. He happily agrees and antics ensue.

This book has loads of small town charm and is sure to get you into the Christmas spirit. I could have used this book last month when I was dreading putting up my Christmas tree! There are well-rounded recurring characters that give this book a Stars Hollow vibe (for you all of you Gilmore Girls lovers reading this). This book also gives off a Hallmark Christmas movie vibe with a little bit more heat but for those of you who love a closed door romance, say no more. This is not a spicy book and I do not mind that one bit. Especially when the storyline and characters are so well thought out. I can tell that the author put a lot of thought into the characters because you get a very strong sense of their individual personalities.

The small town Christmas activities are very cute, hay rides, ugly sweater parties, fundraiser auctions and all attended by our adorable main characters, Gwen and Logan. While this book is adorable, it's also funny, thought provoking and heartwarming. I will absolutely read the other books in this series!
