What was broken will be remade.

Deep in the heart of the continent, Koschei the Deathless is stirring. Though he's been bound to a mountain lake for millennia, the insidious threat of his return now spreads across the Fae territories, attracting powerful allies hell-bent on reclaiming what was once theirs: the human lands.

The Night Court will not stand idly by while innocents are attacked. But with Prythian still piecing itself together in the wake of the devastating Hybern War, the task of uniting is proving more difficult by the day.

To make matters worse, those who rule and protect the Night Court are reeling from recent betrayals and revealed truths. The rifts dividing them seem insurmountable.

But to defeat Koschei's creeping shadow, they must find a way back to each other and resurrect their former alliances. To survive, they must find a way to repair the splintered harmony all around them.

πŸ–‰My Thoughts:

I don't know why this is such a controversial book release. I take that back, I do. It's because everyone wanted this book to be Elaine and Az's sappy little love story with it's happily ever after. It's like they've never read a Maas book series before. There is lots of war, battle and conflict in her books. In all of her series. So....just gotta kinda prepare yourself for that if you're choosing to read her writing. It's worth it, in my opinion. I read all of Throne of Glass and Crescent City, both of which are taking place during giant wars/conflicts for the most part. It makes for some insane character development that you can't even imagine. That being said, let's discuss the book at hand. First off, I found myself so happy that I read Crescent City because there's a large conflict amongst the core group regarding the Crescent City crossover. Idk if it's like, totally NECESSARY to have read it but to get the total emotional grasp of it, it is. I must say, I have not ever been a Nesta fan. Even after book 5, I still wasn't totally on board with her. For lack of a better description, she's a b*tch. But I totally understand where she's coming from in this book and I am 100% on her side. In terms of doing the right thing, she did it. And everyone is pissed at her because she didn't ask permission first. This is crazy to say, but this is the first book ever where I have liked Nesta's character. Mostly crazy because the last entire book was from her POV. I came around to her a little bit in the last book because she was a little less stoic and moody in the worst way possible but I wasn't 100% on board. I am now, though😊 Now let's discuss the proverbial thorn in my side in this book. Elain was on my last nerve the entire time. I found her character to act put out and entitled without reason and it irked me to no end. Like, you lost your mans..we get it. Most people have at one time or another. Get it togetherrrrrr....Plot-wise this book is basically framework. Not a lot really happens until the end. But Maas has laid the groundwork in this book in a way that isn't boring. She's stirred the pot amongst the characters to create some drama. There's some smut. And my favorite thing of all, this book contains multiple character POVs so you can get a better feel for some of the characters' personalities. I've heard grumblings that some readers didn't like that about this book, I thought that it was excellent. I actually preferred it to previous narrations. Especially for what's happening in this storyline. I'm excited to see where ACOTAR takes us. I'm still patiently waiting for book 4 of Crescent City and living on the hopes and dreams that Maas will do a spin off or something in the TOG world. In the meantime I'll patiently wait for book 7 which should be out in January and leave you with some photos of my 2026 October Maas related things.
