She’s NOT looking forward to seeing her ex, Zach—now a sexy bearded handyman who knows exactly how to push her buttons. But she won’t let anything distract her from the inn’s relaunch… right? Zach is frustrated in more ways than one when his latest job brings him face-to-face with the girl who got away. He’s already agreed to renovate her family’s inn and he’s nothing if not a man of his word. But the last thing he wants is to work side-by-side with that stubborn, infuriating—fine, totally gorgeous—red-head. Sparks fly as they prepare for the big Halloween opening. My Thoughts:
This book was HEAVY on the fall vibes so if you’re looking for a book to cozy up with and get in the mood for some colder weather, look no further. The plot follows Madison as she returns home to fix up her family’s inn for a relaunch during the town’s fall/Halloween festival. The plot is enveloped in a cozy, autumnal backdrop but wait, there’s more! There’s a small town cast of characters and book #2 is already in the works so I expect this series to be similar to the Pumpkin Spice cafe. I’ll be honest, the romantic spark just wasn’t really there for me. This is a 2nd chance romance. MCs had a bad break up due to a complete and utter lack of communication, not a miscommunication. It’s irritating AF to me because I just don’t find it realistic it seems incredibly immature to me. In addition to that, Madison and Zach don’t seem to grown or learned from their mistakes in this department. Sigh. To be fair, miscommunication tropes frustrate me in general so I didn’t dock a star for this because it could be chalked up to bias on my part. Bonus points for the plot twist, I definitely didn’t see that coming. Extra bonus points for the final letter, that made me a bit misty eyed. I recommend this book if you’re in the mood for an immersive fall setting romance.
